All Member Meeting Report

The Semi-Annual All member IARA Meeting was held in Las Vegas February 23,2003, in conjunction with CAR2003. The results of the meeting are as follows:

Since the previous all member meeting in September, 2001, a new board member has been added: Scott Kolb of Auction Broadcasting Company. IARA also hired a part-time executive director in October, E. Matthew Marks, (Matt) formerly president and CEO of Inter-modal Transportation Services, the new and used vehicle inspection company.

New members continue to join IARA each month. The 2002 goal of 100 members was attained. Our goal for 2003 is to increase membership to 150.
IARA through its several committees and the board of directors, have investigated several items of concern and decided to place the following as action items for the IARA:

  1. The roundtable educational series will continue with a meeting planned for the July time frame and one next year in conjunction with CAR 2004 to help lessen the burden of additional meetings.
  2. IARA will examine the need for a structured remarketing industry educational process which will enable remarketers and associated companies the ability to increase and document the knowledge level of participants.
  3. IARA will continue to acknowledge outstanding contributions to the remarketing industry with its awards program.
  4. A positive dialog has been established with NAAA regarding a joint effort to establish industry performance bench marking.
  5. The issue of whether all remarketing sales conducted on the Internet are captured by the guidebooks will be investigated by IARA.
  6. The problems caused for remarketers by erroneous data in the various vehicle history providers data bases will be addressed by IARA.
  7. An IARA initiative, working with other industry associations, is already underway to standardize remarketing terms and create an approved glossary of remarketing term definitions.
  8. The IARA, through its Website member legislative survey, has identified five items of concern to remarketers, which will be investigated and addressed:
    • transfer of risk issues;
    • titling issues;
    • lemon laws;
    • litigation/damages;
    • insurance/ insurance liability.
  9. Consideration will be given to the formation of an IARA Website section for questions and answers concerning remarketing issues.
  10. The IARA technology committee will create a Website section for listing key internet based resources for remarketers.
