IARA Membership E-Newsletter Launched
As an extension of the communications capabilities of the new IARA Web site, www.iaraonline.org, this new monthly e-newsletter will report to the membership and interested industry executive management current and planned IARA activities, programs, educational seminars, and joint programs with industry associations.
Membership Drive 2002
Several major banks, manufacturer captives, auctions, and remarketing services companies have joined the Alliance in last three months. Bank of America, Black Book, Dent Wizard, Dentology, Driveitaway.com, FirstStar Bank, Fleet Lease Disposal, Motor Place Auto Exchange, The Pasha Group RVI, Rawls Auto Auction, and Toyota Financial Services. The total institution and industry membership is approaching 65 companies and growing daily. The goal of reaching 100 members by April 15th is attainable as the active campaign by the Membership committee, headed by Dave Langley, continues.
IARA Board/Committee Structure
Several Board nominations were made and approved at IARA Board in late February. Added to the Board were Pierre Pons, TPC Management; John Possumoto, Driveitaway.com; Mel Rogulski, FirstStar Bank; Jean Hitterdahl-Rosati, Dent Wizard; Charlie Vogelheim, Kelley Blue Book; and Mike Wysocki, United Road, Stuart Angert RSA. More directors and committee members will be announced at or prior to the Membership meeting in Chicago on April 12th. Seven major committees are recruiting co-chairpersons and members from among new and existing member company representatives.
Auction Industry Joint Program Development by IARA
IARA is working closely with the staff and leadership of NAAA to develop and present speakers and panels composed of industry management who are members of the Alliance. Two panels and the luncheon speaker at the forthcoming WAAA/MWAAA Conference in Santa Monica on March 20- 24 are to be presented by IARA on behalf of the NAAA.
Independent Auto Auction Marketing Conference Program Development
IARA staff and the Conference & Education committee have organized and structured the program of panels and speakers for the Independent Auto Auction Marketing Conference in Chicago on April 12th.. Other IARA resources and educational programs are being offered and developed for several industry associations such as ACVL, CBA, NADA, NAFA, NAFRD, and NIADA.
Next IARA Meeting in Chicago
The next meeting of the Alliance will be on Friday, April 12, 2002 at 3:00 PM at the Hyatt Regency, Airport in Chicago. Committee reports, program presentations, and organizational objectives will be presented at this first meeting in 2002. Members and all companies in the vehicle remarketing industry are invited to attend and learn more about the scope, focus, and direction of IARA activities for the rest of 2002.
Industry Conference & Education Committee Survey
The Industry Conference & Education committee needs your immediate input. Roundtables and seminars are being planned to cover issues and subjects that are not presently being addressed in other industry conferences, forums or training schedules. Please complete the survey questions with your valuable needed input. You can do the survey online or print out the form and fax it to (310) 796-4591.
IARA Committee Actions & Programs
Industry Association & Corporate Relations Committee
Chairperson: John Schuetz, Daewoo Motors
IARA has made contact with the executive staffs and leadership of every major Industry association to offer assistance in program development, issue support, and conference participation and promotion. Dialogue and communications have been established with major auctions, banks, and manufacturers to learn more about how IARA members can contribute toward the strengthening of the used vehicle remarketing industry.
Industry Rewards & Recognition
Chairperson: Dave Alfonso, Kia Motors
The committee is in process of identifying and listing all existing programs and sponsorships of awards in the used vehicle remarketing industry. Appropriate areas for industry recognition are being assessed in order that IARA may foster awards and recognition of accomplishment and excellence in used vehicle management and remarketing performance.
Industry Standards & Certification
Chairperson: Mike Culligan, American Suzuki
Efforts are being made by the IARA Industry Standards committee and staff to align the resources and focus of the Alliance to support existing initiatives for used vehicle standardization and condition reporting. IARA membership is being educated and mobilized to support positive industry standards for used vehicle reporting and representation.
Industry & National Press Communications Committee
Chairperson: Mike Antich, Bobit Publishing Company
Several articles about IARA and its mission to build an alliance of used vehicle remarketers nationally and worldwide have appeared in Automotive News, Used Car News, Auto Remarketing, and Vehicle Remarketing magazine. Interviews and press releases featuring President David Langley of American Honda have been set up by the IARA press committee.
Next IARA Board Meeting
The next meeting of the newly expanded IARA Board will be on March 21 at 10:00 AM just prior to the WAAA/MWAAA conference luncheon speaker in Santa Monica. Board members not in attendance will be accessed via a conference call setup. Plans for CAR 2002 and the membership meeting in Chicago on April 12th will be finalized.
